VALPOI
The ongoing training for security guards appointed by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) has been postponed after four guards tested positive for Covid.
According to sources, new security guards were recruited by the GHRDC and they were being trained at the Forest Training Centre in Valpoi. However, four trainees developed a fever and later tested positive for Covid.
This development caused panic among other trainees and their families. The training programme was suspended and will be postponed to another date. At present, all trainees have been sent home.
Despite efforts, officials of GHRDC could not be contacted for comments in the matter.
When contacted, an official of the Forest Training Centre confirmed that the forest staff had not been in contact with the training for security guards.
“During their training, the security guards were given separate space and facilities and our forest training officials and our staff had not been in contact with them,” said the official.
