CANACONA
As many as 430 persons, including 104 in the 18+ age category took their first dose of the Covid vaccination in Canacona on Saturday.
People above 45 years took their first dose of the vaccine at special drives in Cotigao (124), Gaondongrim (32), Shristhal (75) and at the regular vaccination centre at CHC (95).
The vaccination also began for the 18-44 age group and 104 took their first dose at the Shri Mallikarjun High School at Char Rasta.
Meanwhile, 47 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the active count to 666 in the taluka.
According to sources, seven members of a family in Agonda were found infected with the virus, prompting authorities to declare a micro-containment zone in the area.
Elsewhere, the NGO Revolutionary Goans has started a Food Court and distributed food to needy people outside the Canacona Community Health Centre, Chaudi on Saturday.
