In Goa Police’s ongoing drive against the drug menace, the sleuths of Crime Branch (CB) arrested two local peddlers from the busy commercial capital, Margao. In their early 20s, Sidhesh Halgekar and Vinayak Juwarkar were caught red-handed for allegedly trafficking suspected ganja.
SP Nidhin Valsan informed that the youth from Margao had in their possession ‘blue colour polythene bad containing greenish flowering and fruiting tops of a plant suspected to be Ganja’ weighing 1.100 kg.
The value is estimated at around Rs 1 lakh. The accused will be produced before the NDPS Court for police remand and interrogated to know the source of the contraband substance.
The State police led an aggressive campaign against drugs incidentally after Telangana’s Hyderabad police initiated a probe to break the inter-state cartel operating from Goa.
