Congress leader Urfan Mulla on Sunday resigned from the post of the chairman of the Minority Cell of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee and as GPCC spokesperson citing lack of organisation, direction and leadership within the party.
In a strongly-worded letter addressed to AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Mulla wrote, “I am not happy with the functioning of the party as there is no unity among senior leaders, who are fighting only for their personal gains. Nobody is bothered about the party and about minority issues. We are just used as tissue paper and vote banks.”
He further charged that the Congress suffers from lack of organisation, direction, ideology and most importantly, leadership. “The old guards in the party in Goa have brought nothing to the party and have miserably failed in decision-making time and again. They have failed in giving space to its younger and ambitious leaders,” Mulla has stated.
A copy of the letter has been marked to GPCC President Girish Chodankar, newly-appointed Goa desk in-charge of Congress, Dinesh Gundu Rao and chairman of All India Minority Congress Nadeem Javed.
