The under secretary (revenue-1) has asked the South Goa collector to expedite a report in connection with a complaint on illegalities by Zuari Agro Chemicals on the land of Sancoale Communidade.
In a letter dated October 17, Under Secretary (Revenue-I) Sandeep Gawde wrote to the South Goa Collector referring to his department's letter dated March 10, pertaining to a complaint alleging "illegalities and fraud by Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd on fertiliser project land of Sancoale communidade".
Indicating that the latest letter was a reminder to the PMO's reference, Gawde has asked the Collector to expedite the report.
Earlier, amidst allegations of a land scam, Zuari Agro Chemicals had written to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant demanding fast- track approval for change of zone of the land that was handed over to the fertilizer firm for industrial purposes.
The Opposition, it may be recalled had raised a storm in the Assembly terming the Zuari Agro Chemical's 'land selling' a scam of Rs 50,000 crore.
The then Congress MLA Michael Lobo had raised the question asking whether the communidade land was transferable, to which the Revenue Minister had said that legal opinion on the same had been sought while Sawant had assured the House to keep the registration of sale deeds on hold.
