South Goa Collector Ruchika Katyal on Monday issued an order declaring a house near MES College junction in Zuarinagar as a micro-containment zone.
According to the order, the health officer of Cortalim PHC informed that five persons from a house near MES College junction in Zuarinagar-Sancoale tested positive for Covid-19 and the Mormugao Deputy Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate requested in his mail dated April 25 to declare a micro-containment zone.
Considering that certain areas are now vulnerable to Covid-19 being in close proximity to the epicentre, the south Goa collector declared the House in Bharat Nagar Colony near MES College Junction, Zuarinagar-Sancoale as a micro-containment zone, to prevent its spread in adjoining areas.
To combat the situation at hand, Katyal directed an action plan to be carried out, which included screening of suspects, testing of suspected cases, quarantine/isolation, social distancing and other public health measures in the micro containment zone.
A rapid response team comprising Dy Collector Sachin Desai, DySP Raju Raut Desai, Cortalim PHC Health Officer Dr Socorro Quadros, Dy Director of Panchayats South Goa, MMC Chief Officer Jayant Tari, Fire Station Officer Francisco Mendes, Mormugao Mamlatdar Dhiren Banaulikar, Civil Supply Inspector Pillai, PWD Assistant Engineer P I Naik and Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Joao Lucas was also deployed to investigate the outbreak and initiate control measure by assessing the situation.
