A rider was seriously injured when three two-wheelers collided with each other near a newly constructed road divider on the NH66 at Gulem-Canacona on Monday.
According to sources, two of the two-wheelers were heading towards Margao, while the third two-wheeler was reportedly crossing the NH66 road towards Devabhag.
While two of the riders sustained minor injuries, the third suffered serious leg injuries and was moved to the Canacona CHC before being referred to the South Goa District Hospital at Margao. A Canacona police team conducted investigations at the site.
Locals have, however, complained that this mishap is not the first in the area, as several other motorists, including 4-wheelers, have been involved in mishaps at the site ever since the road was widened and a divider was introduced at the site.
“The government should explore possibilities and come up with safety measures, preferably traffic signals at this site, so that people do not fall prey to mishaps,” informed a resident of Gulem.
