CANACONA
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, whose Shree Balram Charitable Trust provided houses to 20 beneficiaries under the ‘Shram-Dham’ initiative at Canacona, said fish farming and dairy farming would be taken up as community projects in the taluka.
“The income which is derived from it will be used in the Shram Dham initiative,” Tawadkar said.
Tawadkar said the two initiatives would also provide employment opportunities and improve the living standards of Canacona people.
Vinay Tukbi, who designed these houses, was honoured at the hands of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Agonda Sarpanch Prettal Fernandes and ex-Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues were also felicitated by Birla as Agonda village was the only panchayat from Goa to get a national nomination for ‘Green and Clean‘ awards amongst 100 other panchayats from rest of the country.
All Goa Private Property Owners Association, who previously donated Rs 12 lakh to build ‘Shram-Dham’ houses, donate yet another cheque for an unspecified amount.
The cheque was handed over by association president Dharmesh Saglani and others to Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Bhoma village sarpanch handed over a cheque for Rs 2 lakh, while Dhaku Madkaikar handed over another cheque of Rs1 lakh on the stage.
