Finally an attempt will be made to map the web of underground and surface storm water drains in the capital city, most built during the colonial rule of the Portuguese.

An advisory committee has been set up to get the job done which will be headed by

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) managing director and CEO, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS.

"This committee will bring together experts to develop a comprehensive strategy for mapping Panaji's storm water drain network," a statement released by IPSCDL said, adding that representatives from the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Directorate of Settlement & Land Records, NGPDA, WRD and PWD will be on the committee.

The Charles Correa Foundation and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have also been roped in for their expertise.

Former CCP councillor. Patricia Pinto will also be on the committee.

The committee will oversee collection of data related to existing storm-water infrastructure and identify areas vulnerable to flooding or drainage issues and recommend improvements in the drainage system.

Additional members or experts as may be needed will be invited to join the committee, IPSCDL said.
