Saligao Police station on Saturday night busted a betting racket on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and arrested three persons.
The officials of Saligao Police station mentioned that upon receipt of information from a reliable source that a cricket betting racket is going on in a bungalow at Sangolda police conducted a raid at Malham Villa, Bellavista, Sangolda and caught red handed three persons namely Thakkar Kalpeshbhai Chandulal,Thakkar Sandeepkumar, Jayeshbhai and Patel Mayur.
These are all natives of Gujarat who were found accepting bets through online mode on mobile phones and laptops on the IPL match played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru V/s Rajasthan Royals in closed premises at white colour bungalow named Malhan Villa located at Bellavista, Sangolda.
During the raid, police seized the articles consisting of 10 mobile phones ,12 laptops ,3 note books and 3 routers all worth Rs 4,50,000. In this connection Police have registered an offence under sections 3 and 4 of Goa,Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act 1976.
The raid was conducted by Police Inspector Somnath Mahajik, and his team comprising of Police sub Inspector Kishorkumar Naik, Head constable Vishant Mayekar, Police constable Vijay Palni, Yeshwant Sakhalkar, Lady Police constable Soniya Mhalsekar under the supervision of Dy SP VKarpe and under the overall supervision of SP North Akshat Kaushal.
