The St Jerome Church in Mapusa gears up to host the much-anticipated feast of Our Lady of Miracles, affectionately known as Milagres feast, on April 15.
This annual event, fondly referred to as ‘Milagr saibinichem fest’ by the majority community, promises to draw throngs of devotees from across the State.
The nine-day novenas, heralding the culmination of the feast, commenced on April 6 and will conclude with vespers on April 14.
On the feast day itself, a solemn mass will be held at 10 am, complemented by additional masses scheduled at 5.30 am, 7.00 am, 8.30 am, and 12.00 pm (English) in the morning, followed by services at 4.00 pm and 5.15 pm in the evening.
The masses on week days during the ongoing novenas are held at 6.30 am, 8 am (Novena) and 6 pm (Novena and Salve) while on Sunday it is held at 6.30 am, 7.45 am (Novena), 9 am (English) and 6 pm (Novena and Salve).
In conjunction with the religious festivities, the church authorities have arranged a five-day entertainment extravaganza, Milagres Fiesta 2024, within the church compound, commencing on the feast day.
This entertainment package includes three Konkani dramas on different days, alongside various other programmes such as games and housie.
However, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) faces the daunting task of repairing roads that were excavated for underground power cabling, ahead of the festivity.
