MP assures to continue social service irrespective whether into politics or not

MARGAO
A day after he was left disappointed over the denial of ticket to contest the May 7 Lok Sabha polls from South Goa constituency, MP Francisco Sardinha on Sunday said he would remain with the Congress, but ruled out attending party’s any meetings in the coming election.
When the media questioned why he would not attend the Congress election meetings given that he is the senior-most member of the party, Sardinha shot back, “If the party considers me as a senior leader, why did the party sideline me on the question of nominating me for the May 7 election.”
Sardinha had an interaction with the party workers and supporters at his Curtorim residence on Sunday, reassuring them that he would continue his social work. “I know that many of my supporters are hurt over the Congress decision to deny me the ticket. I am not leaving the Congress, but people will show. I will be with the Congress, but will not attend any election meetings,” he asserted.
While expressing his gratitude to his workers and supporters for standing by him in his political journey spanning over 40 years, Sardinha reassured them that he would continue his social work irrespective whether he is into politics or not. “I will continue to do the work of my workers and people,” he added.
The four-time sitting MP was denied the ticket by the Congress party to contest the May 7 Lok Sabha election by nominating ex-serviceman Captain Viriato Fernandes for the seat.
