PONDA
In a shocking incident, Ponda police arrested one person and booked cases against four others in connection with a child marriage reported in Tisk Usgao.
According to the police, a minor girl from Karwar was called to Tisk-Usgao for marriage. After about eight days, she realised that her 28-year-old husband from Chimbel had been married a few months ago, and she reported the matter to her family in Karwar. The minor girl was then taken back to Karwar.
When an Anganwadi worker became aware of the information, a complaint was duly filed at the Karwar police station. The complaint was later forwarded to the Ponda police station.
Acting on the complaint, Ponda police registered a case, arrested the husband on Sunday morning, and booked offences against four others: a person from Haveri, Karnataka; two persons from Tisk-Usgao; and one person from Karwar.
PSI Anjali Dhulapkar is conducting further investigation under the guidance of Inspector Vijaynath Kavlekar.
