The withdrawal of 21 candidates on Tuesday has left 112 candidates to contest elections in 25 wards at the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC).
Speaking to reporters, Mormugao Deputy Collector Sachin Desai said candidates would be given election symbols to contest the polls.
"A total of 137 candidates had filed their nominations and after scrutiny, four nominations were rejected and a total of 133 candidates were found eligible to contest.”
“However, 21 of them withdrew from the elections and 112 candidates will now contest the 25 wards of MMC.”
“We will prepare a final list and by late evening, symbols will be allotted to candidates and ballot papers will be placed on the notice board," said Desai.
