In a swift crackdown on the illegal liquor sale racket, the Market Police Station in Belagavi seized over 128 litres of illicit Goa liquor and arrested two individuals involved in the operation.
The action was initiated on Sunday after the police received credible information about a motorcycle rider from Goa allegedly supplying liquor without a valid license.
Under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police Bhushan Borase and Deputy Commissioners of Belagavi, along with the ACP (Market Division), a special team led by PI Mahantesh Dhammanavar and PSI Vitthal Havanwar launched the operation.
During the investigation, police seized a motorcycle from the accused, identified as Manjunath Malagoud Gidageri (25), a driver by profession.
Based on further leads, police also detained Yatiraj Ramachandra Parade (28) of Tanaji Galli, Belagavi, who confessed that the liquor stock was hidden in a room in Hulabatti Colony, Mahatma Phule Road, Shahapur.
A raid was subsequently conducted, resulting in the recovery of 128 litres of illicit liquor worth Rs 50,680. Both accused have been taken into custody and cases registered.
Senior officials commended the team for their swift and coordinated response.
