Fifteen tribal youth in Canacona were handed over letters to learn motor driving skills under a Tribal Welfare scheme.
The scheme was launched under the Schedule Tribe Finance Corporation and inaugurated by Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes at a brief function in the Cotigao Panchayat Hall on Wednesday.
Fernandes appealed to the tribal youth to avail of the benefits and learn driving for future prospects.
“Though we handed over orders to 15 tribal youth on Wednesday, more people from the ST community will also benefit in the days to come,” assured Fernandes.
Tribal Welfare Department Director Sandhya Kamat, Cotigao Sarpanch Daya Gaonkar, Shristhal Sarpanch Ganesh Gaonkar and panch members were present at the function.
