Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar has been admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim with a heart-related ailment.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited Patnekar and took stock of the medical facilities and services being provided to him.
“Visited GMC along with the Health Minister. Enquired about the health condition of Hon’ble Speaker Shri Rajesh Patnekar. I pray for his speedy recovery,” CM Sawant tweeted after meeting Patnekar.
A statement released by the state government disclosed that Patnekar has a history of diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and coronary artery disease with previous coronary angioplasty undertaken in 2014 at GMC.
"He was admitted with breathlessness and minimal fluid retention. He is admitted for thorough cardiac evaluation, medical treatment and observation in the cardiac ICU of GMC. His vital parameters are stable and the first stage of evaluation is completed. He is likely to remain in the hospital for a few days until the entire evaluation is complete," Dr Manjunath Desai, Associate professor at GMC's Cardiology Department has stated.
