Urban Development Minister Milind Naik on Sunday morning said that there were around 17 major development projects, including a swimming pool, taken up in Mormugao constituency.
Naik was speaking to reporters at a tree plantation programme on the multipurpose ground at Bogda.
Naik said, “Mormugao is a small constituency, but around 17 major projects are being taken up simultaneously. The constituency will see the first and the only world-class swimming pool project in the entire taluka.”
“In the next eight months, work on all footpaths and gutters will be taken up. Also, some works I had undertaken as power minister are at completion stage.” he said and added, “As Urban Development Minister, I have proposed many development works not only in Mormugao but entire Goa.”
Naik said that the tree plantation drive was part of the BJP programme to commemorate the birthday of PM Narendra Modi. “The party has decided that every constituency takes up some programme with the help of its karyakartas (workers). This plantation drive is one such program taken up in Mormugao,” he added.
He said the plantation activity was a message that “we have to take care of nature”. “We have to realise development and nature have to go together. In fact we have taken down names of every person who has planted a tree today and that person will have to water his own tree and take care of it,” Naik stated.
‘Sada market complex project will be completed in next six months’
VASCO: Ridiculing media reports that one of the most awaited projects at Headland-Sada, the market complex-cum-community hall, has hit a roadblock, Urban Development Minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik on Sunday said he had different plans on mind which he did not want to disclose at the moment.
The project, a multi-storey building, will house vegetable and fish vendors, hawkers and other miscellaneous outlets. It will also have a gymnasium, a community hall and other commercial shops with a parking facility at the lower level.
Naik said this was the most-awaited project, but there were all kinds of reports being carried even before it is completed. “We have decided to have a final check if any other small changes are required and that is why the project has been delayed,” he added.
“Secondly, we will also decide the route through which this market is handed over. I have a different plan in mind which I don’t want to disclose now, but one thing is sure the project will be completed within the next six months,” he said.
