When contacted, Bicholim PI Narayan Chimulkar said the police was not informed by the school or the Bicholim PHC authorities regarding the incident. No authorities in the school were available for comments, as the school was closed in the afternoon. When contacted, Dr Sandesh Madkaikar, medical officer at the Pilye Tisk Primary Health Center, informed that 16 students from Std 2 and 3 were brought to the PHC. “Of them, 15 students were discharged after a short while, while one girl student was kept under observation as she complained of loose motions. She is OK, but we have kept her under observation,” Dr Madkaikar said. According to Dr Madkaikar, one girl student who was sick vomited in the room where the mid-day meal was served. Asked if there was a case of food poisoning, Dr Madkaikar said: “Nothing (adverse) as such was found in the food.” “The girl who vomited first was not brought here and it is possible she may have been taken to another hospital,” he added.
