The Goa Forward Party on Sunday said that the party is in the process of building the nascent regional party, while keeping options open for a political alliance with other political players in the State ahead of the 2017 Assembly election.
Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Prabhakar Timble on Sunday told The Goan that the party will no doubt pursue the task of forging opposition unity, in tune with the sentiments of Goan people. But, at the same time, he made it abundantly clear that the GFP is right now in the process of strengthening and building the party.
“The immediate task before the Goa Forward Party is to strengthen its base across the State. Though we value unity of opposition forces and overall unity, this question will be decided, may be, six months before the election,” Timble said.
Asked to comment on the disappointment expressed by Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai over the failure of the opposition’s coordinated efforts to corner the government in the just concluded Assembly session, Tmble said the independent MLAs and the opposition legislature group had taken certain decisions on the eve of the Assembly session, adding that the GFP had no direct role in these decisions.
