Elderly woman murdered at Betim

A 73-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence at Betim and cash and gold ornaments, all worth about Rs 45,000, has been looted.
According to Porvorim Police, Ramnath R Naik, a businessman from Walkeshwarda-Betim, filed a complaint stating that some persons entered into his house situated near ST bus stand, Betim, by removing the roof tiles and murdered his mother, Priyanka, sometime between 11 pm on Saturday and 8.30 am on Sunday.
Police further stated that the accused decamped with gold chain, gold earrings and cash of about Rs 3000, all worth about Rs 45,000. The incident came to light when the deceased's daughter Trupti Naik woke up on Sunday morning.
Porvorim Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, DySP Nelson Albuquerque along with his staff rushed to the spot and conducted the panchanama. They pressed the dog squad into service, but could not provide gather any clues. Finger print experts were also called.
PI Dalvi stated that the deceased's daughter was sleeping in the adjacent room and Priyanka was strangulated.
PI Dalvi further informed that they have formed a team of police officials comprising PSI Vilesh Durbhatker, PSI Mahesh Naik, PSI Satchit Pillai, Keshav Pateker and ASP Balu Jadhav to detect the crime.
The body of he deceased has been preserved in the morgue at Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim. Police are on the look out for CCTV footage, if any, said PI Dalvi.
