Abhivyakti Panaji in association with Goa State Biodiversity Board organised a national level programme of Rashtriya Yuva Jagruti for creating awareness on biodiversity and ecological conservation amongst youth. The one-and-a-half-month programme conducted competitions such as photography, digital poster, reel, meme, monologue and microtale. The concluding event of the programme that began on January 1 this year, was on February 19 with Dr Vinod Mathur, chairperson of National Biodiversity Authority attending as the chief guest.
The programme was a huge success with their official website recording 1.15 lakh interactions and 4,500 unique visitors. “We have received over 500 registrations and over 300 submissions from 18 States and Union Territories and the website received hits from 20 plus countries,” stated Dr Pradip Sarmokadam, member secretary of Goa State Biodiversity Board, and added that Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Assam, Delhi and Jharkhand sent their submissions for the programme.
“This collaboration has successfully conducted the competitions for the last five years. Initially it was State level event and since past two years due to covid pandemic, conducted virtually in association with National Biodiversity Authority to ensure outreach to maximum States,” informed Sarmokadam.
This programme, organized by youth from Goa from Abhivyakti Panaji and supported by Goa State Biodiversity Board and Department of Environment, commenced 45 days ago and creative prize-winning entries are available on website as well as Goa State Biodiversity Board channels.
The Monologue competition saw all four winners from West Bengal with Nayan Sadhak bagging first prize of Rs 2500, Biplab Naskar receiving the second prize of Rs 1800 and Alip Halder as well as Rahul Sarkar, both winning consolation prizes of Rs 1300 each.
Goa pocketed all the four prizes in Digital Poster making competition with Gautam Naik winning the first prize (Rs 2500), Akshay Volvoikar standing second (Rs 1500), Sundar Chaudhary and Konal Makwana both winning consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each.
In the Reel competition, Goa won all four prizes, with Srushti Desh Bhandari winning first place (Rs 4000), Akshay Volvoikar winning second prize (Rs 3000), Neha Bhobe and Sushant Kadam receiving consolation prizes of Rs 1700 each.
In Photography competition the first place was won by Irengbam Momocha of Manipur with the prize money of Rs 2000, Goa’s Abhishek Govekar won the second place (Rs 1500), and Maharashtras’s Parth Lokhande and Goa’s Jovan Dias, both won the consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each.
In Meme competition too Goa stood up among the participating States and the first prize of Rs 2500 was pocketed by Twizel Coutinho. Akshay Volvoikar won the second prize (Rs 1500) and Nimay Kamat as well as Himanshu Naik, both won the consolation prize money of Rs 1000 each.
In Microtale competition Kerala, Bihar and Goa exhibited talent with Kerala’s Jesmal Jelal winning the first prize of Rs 1500 and Bihar’s Saleen Marandi winning the second place (Rs 1300) and Goa’s Dr K Akhilesh bagging the third place with Rs 1000. The consolation prizes of Rs 700 each were given to Ninad Tengse and Anushree Savoiverenkar, both from Goa.
