Porvorim police have registered an offence against Rohan Hoble of Merces and Neha Malgaonkar from Socorro on charges of cheating a person to the tune of Rs 36 lakh on the pretext of providing a shop along the Chogm road in Porvorim.
According to police reports, the two accused in June 2023 had reportedly assured Tejaswini Siddesh Divkar from Taleigao and her brother Guirish Murgaokar to provide a shop along the Chogm road.
The accused went to the Chogm road and showed a roadside shop to the complainant and her brother, and allegedly accepted an amount of Rs 36 lakh from the complainant as amount for the shop.
Meanwhile, Girish Murgaonkar got a job and went abroad. As the accused neither handed over the shop nor refunded the money, the woman filed a complaint with the Porvorim Police station on Tuesday.
Porvorim police registered a case against the accused and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sitaram Malik under the guidance of Police Inspector Rahul Parab.
