Vasco Railway Police arrested two individuals in connection with a robbery and assault near the railway tracks at Mestawaddo Roadside, Vasco, Goa, on the evening of November 25.
Upendra Sunil Pangam of New Vaddem, Vasco, had stated that three persons had attacked him around 7 pm while he was near the railway tracks. The assailants robbed him of Rs 1,600 in cash, attempted to steal his mobile phone, and assaulted him. The complainant suffered a knife wound on the right side of his neck, head injuries caused by a stone, and injuries to his fingers during the robbery attempt.
Following the complaint, the police identified and apprehended two accused persons Aniket Manoj Sawant, residing near Khapreshwar Temple, Belabai, Vasco and Sharanappa alias Sharnya Mahadevappa Palkar, residing near Gomteshwar Temple, Sasmollem, Baina, Vasco.
During the interrogation, accused Aniket Sawant disclosed the weapon used in the crime, a Koita which was recovered under a Panchanama.
Both accused have been arrested under Section 309(6) of the BNS Act, and have been remanded to three days in police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco.
PSI Krishna G. Talpi of the Vasco Railway Police Station is carrying out further investigation.
