200-PLUS EMPTY BEDS AT SOUTH, ESI HOSPITALS

MARGAO
Around 200-plus beds were available at both the South Goa district hospital and the ESI hospital, Margao, on Saturday, as the admission rate has come down further in the last 24 hours.

At the South Goa district hospital, around 192 beds were available as on Saturday. That the admissions have come down drastically was evident by the fact that the hospital admitted only two patients between 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

“There was not much difference on the admissions on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, we had received around 40 patients and the same number of discharges,” South Goa district hospital nodal officer, Dr Rajesh Patil, stated.

At the neighbouring ESI hospital, Medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai said the hospital recorded only 26 new admissions in the last 24 hours, while around 30 patients were discharged during the same period. Around four patients were transferred to other Covid hospitals, he added.

A break-up of the patients undergoing treatment at the hospital showed that around 122 patients are on oxygen, while 17 patients are being administered Remdesivir.
