3 fish vehicles denied entry at border

Continuing the drive against fish carrying vehicles not adhering to rules and not having proper documents, three trucks which didn’t have all documents were stopped at the border and sent back on Monday night at Pollem checkpost.

Health Minster Vishwajit Rane stated that he is accountable to the people of the State and said “food safety is the highest priority of the government”.

On Monday, 12 fish carrying vehicles were checked and 3 were sent back as they did not have proper documents, he said adding officials at the border were following stringent measures to check the vehicles in view of the formalin scare.

At Patradevi checkpost, 5 vehicles were checked and samples were taken for testing, he said.

Meanwhile, Rane came down heavily on NCP MLA Churchill Alemao for making baseless statements and creating panic among the people.

He said the government is committed to food safety. “We have put a joint monitoring team in the state. We have placed a government of India agency at the border which is
