3 more succumb to Covid; 519 new cases reported

Death toll @386; recovered cases cross 25,000-mark

An unfortunately high number of persons with Covid-19 infection continue to be brought dead to government medical facilities. The mortality bulletin of the Health Department on Friday yet again brought the issue of delay in seeking medical treatment for Covid-19. Of the three deceased persons, two were brought dead to the hospital and tested positive for Covid-19 post-mortem.

These include a 54-year-old man from Curchorem and a 65-year-old man from Raia. It has so far been confirmed that one of these two people did not suffer from any prior medical conditions.

The third deceased person, a 63-year-old man from Moira with hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea, succumbed to the infection on Friday at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim. He was admitted on September 22.

With the inclusion of these three deaths, the total Covid death toll in Goa has touched 386.

A total of 519 persons tested positive for the infection on Friday taking the total number of active cases to 5,614. A total of 2,46,170 people have been tested so far of whom 31,071 have been detected with the coronavirus. 

On the brighter side, the number of recovered cases crossed 25,000 on Friday.

Subhash Velingkar tests positive

PANAJI: Goa Suraksha Manch leader Subhash Velingkar on Friday announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and requested those who have come in contact with him in the recent past to take precautions and to get themselves tested.
