Covid count maintains upward trend in Bardez; 132 new cases reported in taluka

With 132 new cases, Covid continued to maintain a steady upward trend in Bardez even as the number of active positive cases crossed 400 in Porvorim on Friday.

The number of positive cases shot up to 44 in Mapusa urban health centre, while the number of persons infected with the virus in Candolim and Porvorim primary health centres was 28 and 25 respectively.

Aldona Primary Health Centre reported the least number of new cases, with just one positive case reported on Friday.

The Health Officer of Mapusa Urban Health Centre, Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that 10 persons tested positive in Khorlim, nine in Shettya-vaddo/Peddem, five each in Cunchelim, Altinho and Duler, three each in Ansabhat and Carrasvaddo and one each in Ganeshpuri, Dangui Colony, Ekta Nagar and Feira Baixa.

Under the jurisdiction of the Candolim PHC, eight persons were tested positive in Calangute, six in Reis Magos, five in Pilerne, three in Saligao, two each in Arpora and Candolim and one each in Nerul and Sangolda.

Dr Roshan Nazareth, who holds additional charge of Porvorim PHC, informed that 13 persons were infected with the coronavirus in Socorro, eight in Penha de France and four in Salvador do Mundo.

A total of 20 cases were found positive under the jurisdiction of Siolim PHC. Health Officer Dr Sadhna Shetye informed that 11 persons tested positive in Anjuna, four in Siolim, three in Assagao and one each in Canca and Parra.

Colvale PHC witnessed 14 positive cases “ Tivim (5), Nadora (3), Colvale jail (2), Sirsaim (2), Colvale (1) and Camurlim (1).

In Aldona PHC, only one patient from Pomburpa tested positive on Friday.
