Three persons ended their lives in separate incidents at Cotta-Amona (Quepem), Veling-Priol (Ponda) and Dhavali (Ponda).
In one incident, Vikram Shetye (35) of Cotta-Amona in Quepem had committed suicide at his residence.
A Quepem police team visited the spot and conducted the Panchanama on the body.
Police enquiries with family members of the deceased revealed that the deceased person was in depression due to marital issues. No any foul play suspected by the family members.
The body was sent to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao for Medico Legal formalities. Quepem PSI Digamber Bondre is conducting further investigation.
In another incident, Veling-Priol Panch Rupesh Naik, informed the Mardol Police that the body of an unknown male person was found dead in the jungle area of Veling Priol.
A Mardol police team visited the spot and conducted the panchanama.
Police later identified the deceased as Jagabandhu Nayak (28), a native of Odisha but residing at Mardol. Further enquiry revealed that the said deceased was missing since January 15 and a missing complaint had been registered at Mardol Police station on January 16.
It was also revealed that the deceased had a habit of playing online gambling and was in a debt, due to which he may have committed suicide.
The body was sent for an autopsy at the SGDH Margao, where a doctor certified that “in view of advance stage of decomposition, no opinion to cause of death can be furnished. However, there are signs suggestive of death due to hanging. Visual preserved for chemical analysis.”
Mardol PSI Abhilash Naik is conducting further investigation.
In the third incident, a person from Kavale ended his life at his residence in Dhavali.
A Ponda police team visited the site and an enquiry with family members revealed the deceased person, Dattakumar Naik, had committed suicide at his residence. The body was sent for an autopsy at the SGDH Margao. Ponda PSI Ashish Velip is conducting further investigation.
