The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Valanka Alemao: Apart from being a successful entrepreneur and a social worker, I also have voiced the concerns of the people and have stood by them. This places me as a better candidate to represent my people.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the Assembly?
VA: 33% reservation for women in all jobs, which is also a promise to Goan women from our party.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician and why?
VA: Jayalalithaa was an inspirational personality and I adore her for her grit and pro-poor policies. She set an example through her low-cost meal scheme and was the voice of women empowerment in her state.
TG: Who would be your CM’s choice, should your party come into power?
VA: The Chief Minister is something that the party has to decide. But I am sure the party will keep the interest of Goans in mind before making its decision.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain
VA: The mandate of the people and decision of party leadership must be followed by all MLAs. This trend of defections and mergers must stop.
TG: Do you feel the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win?
VA: We are confident that the TMC-MGP alliance will form the government with full majority.
