The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) attached to the Dabolim Airport nabbed a 36-year-old passenger from Bicholim with 3.518 kgs of hashish valued at Rs 17.59 lakh at Dabolim Airport in the wee hours of Monday.
According to information, the passenger, Sharif Shaikh, was to travel to Doha by the Qatar Airways flight QR-523. At around 2.16 am during a pre-embarkation security check through X-BIS machine at the security hold area of Goa Airport, CISF Sub Inspector Chandra Bhushan noticed the image of suspicious material inside a bag.
Bhushan selected the bag for a thorough check up and Shaikh was asked to open the bag. On opening the bag, multiple packets of black coloured material wrapped with plastic and carbon paper weighing about 3.518 kgs was found concealed in the false bottom of the bag.
Subsequently, the material was checked through the drug detection kit and was confirmed to be hashish valued at Rs 17.59 lakh.
The matter was reported to officials of CISF and NCB.
Shaikh along with
the seized hashish were
later handed over to NCB
officials for further action in the matter.
