38-year-old man murdered at Davondem; woman held

38-year-old man Somana Hanuman Naik was found murdered at Chovoth-Davondem here on Thursday morning.

 The deceased was found lying in a pool of blood and his head allegedly smashed with a stone.Acting swiftly on a complaint, the Margao police immediately arrested a 30-year-old woman Rammi Chawan, who was staying with the deceased in the hut since the last four years.The incident had occurred late Wednesday night following a quarrel between the deceased and accused, following which the accused woman is alleged to have smashed Somana Hanuman s head with a stone. “The woman has confessed of the crime. During the quarrel, the deceased was alleged to have told the accused that she may kill him with a stone,” Margao PI C L Patil told the media.After committing the offence, the accused is believed to have headed to the KTC bus stand.The police were informed about the incident at around 7.45 in the morning when one Neville Fernandes, in whose bar the deceased was working as a dish washer, lodged his formal complaint with the police.The police are conducting further investigations.
