Porvorim police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a worker on his birthday at Malim Jetty.
Porvorim police said the incident took place on March 4, when four co-workers -- Sumit Kuzur (19), Devnarayan Bhagat (30), Santosh Bhagat (24) and Pradip Bhagat (19) -- had gathered at Malim Jetty to celebrate the birthday of the deceased, Shibram Ram.
After consuming alcohol, they began an argument and later, a fight broke out. The four accused are alleged to have assaulted Shibram Ram and threw him in the Mandovi River.
On March 5, details of the incident were reported to Porvorim Police.
Acting on a complaint, Porvorim Police swung into action and arrested the main accused, Sumeet Kuzur. Police also recovered the body of the deceased on March 6 and arrested the other three accused on Monday.
Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar is investigating the case under the supervision of SP Sobit Saxena and DySP Vishvesh Karpe.
