Four persons posing as policemen robbed cash of Rs 8 lakh from a pick-up van near a car showroom at Socorro on Sunday morning.
Sunil Kambale, a driver by occupation and resident of Solapur-Maharashtra, lodged a complaint with Porvorim Police station stating that four unknown persons in the age group of 35“40 years impersonating as police officers came on two different bikes, restrained him and his helper when they were proceeding towards Maharashtra via the Porvorim-Mapusa road in a pickup.
Kambale claimed that one accused person checked his pickup and while checking, the other accused stole a black-coloured bag containing Rs 8 lakh cash which was kept in the cabin and fled from the scene on their motorcycles.
Porvorim police have registered an offence under Sections 204, 307, read with 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is in progress.
