Bicholim mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit along with his team seized sand and five canoes involved in illegal extraction of sand, after raiding a site at Maina-Navelim on Friday morning.
Acting on a complaint that illegal extraction and transportation was being
carried out at Maina-Navelim, the Bicholim mamlatdar along with his team conducted a raid at Maina-Navelim at about 8.30 am on Friday.
The team noticed stacks of sand lying at the site along with canoes involved in illegal extraction of
sand.
The mamlatdar then conducted a panchanama of the raid. The mamlatdar has directed Bicholim police to depute a police team to the site to prohibit illegal extraction and transportation of sand at the site.
The police has been further directed to seize the sand which is lying at the site and conduct an inquiry in the matter and
register an offence against the miscreants involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of sand, and
submit the compliance
report.
A circle inspector and talathi Ajit Gaonkar were also part of the team conducting the raid.
The Bicholim mamlatdar has also notified the Captain of Ports and mines department about the raid.
