50-year-old worker dies weeks after fall in Bogmalo

A 50-year-old labourer from New Vaddem, Vasco, who had been battling for life for over two weeks after suffering a fall at a worksite in Bogmalo, passed away at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, on Friday morning.

Vasco police said they received a wireless message from the GMC casualty section on December 5 informing them that the patient, identified as Santosh Kumar of New Vaddem, Vasco, had succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

According to the police, an enquiry with the deceased’s son, Sonu Kumar, also residing at New Vaddem, revealed that the incident occurred on November 19 at around 5.10 pm.

Santosh Kumar had reportedly fallen from a height at his workplace in Bogmalo. He was immediately shifted for medical attention and later admitted to GMC, where his condition remained critical until his demise on Friday.

Police conducted an inquest panchanama over the body and referred it for a post-mortem examination. After completion of formalities, the body was handed over to the family for final rites.

Vasco police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigations were carried out by Vasco PSI Plato Carvalho, under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
