Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye has said machinery over 50 years old at the dilapidated Bicholim power substation will be replaced and re-activated to eliminate frequent interruptions in power supply.
He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for the replacement of old machinery at Bicholim.
“Very old circuits in the premises of Bicholim power substation as well as new electrical machinery will be installed at a cost of Rs 3 crore and the work will be completed in six months,” said Dr Shetye.
Executive Engineer Vallabh Samant said the electrical machinery circuit at the Bicholim power substation was old and dilapidated.
“After installation of new equipment, the power supply would be improved and all other works will be undertaken,” said Samant.
Others present at the event included Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Kundan Falari, Councillors Satish Gaonkar, Deepa Shirgaonkar, Nilesh Tople, Riaz Beg, Ranjana Waingankar, Vijaykumar Natekar, Gunjan Korgaonkar, officers and staff.
