8 injured in Loutolim accident

MARGAO: Eight personswere injured in a head-on collision between two cars reported at Vanxem-Loutlim.

According to Maina-Curtorim police, the accident occurred on May 22, when the Marui Omni car which was proceeding from Ponda to Margao collided with an oncoming Maruti Wagon R at Vanxem-Loutolim.

The collision resulted in injuries to the driver of the Wagon R, one Rajesh, besides injuring five other occupants of the Wagon R, namely Pandarinath (38), Praneeta (27), Devensh Gaonkar, aged 1/12 yrs, all residents of Kirlapal, Dabal, and Yogesh Mulgaonkar (15), Prashani Mulgaonkar (6), both residents of Ambeshi, Pali.

Both the driver of the Omni, one Nilesh (38) and its occupant namely Dhiraj (37), both residents of Varkhandem, Ponda, also sustained injuries.

Maina-Curtorim police have registered an offence and is investigating the case.

Theft at Raia flat

MARGAO: Unidentified culprits decamped with a laptop and cash of Rs 2600 from a flat in Margao.

According to Margao police, the theft occurred on May 23, when the culprits entered the flat of one Eldrida and made good their escape with a laptop and cash amount, all worth Rs 32,600.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered an offence under Section 380 of IPC.

Meanwhile, in another incident of theft, this time at Raia, unidentified culprits stole a scooter belonging to one Cajetan, a resident of Raia.

Maina-Curtorim police said the incident occurred on May 22, when culprits stole the scooter which was parked at Raia. They pegged the damage arising out of the theft at about Rs 15,000.

A case under Section 379 has been registered.

Duo injured in accident

MARGAO: A duo riding on a scooter was injured when they met with an accident at Rawanfond.

According to Margao town police, the accident occurred on May 21, when the Eterno scooter they were riding on collided with a Suzuki Access scooter near Rawanfond, resulting in injuries to the rider of the Access scooter one Anand and the pillion rider, one Sahil.

The police have registered an offence under Sections 279 and 337 of IPC.
