PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar stated that Chorao village will get ample water once the project of 800 cum from Mayem reservoir to Chorao reservoir is completed.
He was speaking after laying foundation stones for different development projects in Chorao area along with Speaker Anant Shet. Mayem ZP member Shankar Chodankar, Chorao Sarpanch Aarti Bandodkar, former Chorao sarpanch Premanand Mhambrey and others were present.
Speaking further, Dhavalikar said the old existing ferry points at Arondo, Ambadi and Lopela will be developed under Bharatmala and Sagarmala scheme to boost tourism in the area. “Two big water pumps will be commissioned at the cost of Rs 2 crore to pump raw water,” he said.
Shet said development projects worth about Rs 54 crore were taken up in Chorao over the last four years.
Dhavalikar and Shet laid foundation stones for different projects estimated to cost Rs 10.77 crore.
One of these projects is the laying of additional conveying of water project from 800 cu m Mayem reservoir to 800 cu m Chorao reservoir. The work is expected to be completed by March 2017. The work costing Rs 5.59 crore will help to provide water to Chorao on a daily basis and will solve the water shortage problem faced by the village.
Earlier, Dhavalikar along with Shet launched the work to widen and hot-mix the main road junctions from Madel to Kerem, Carabhat, Conoldem, Belbhat up to Pomburpa ferry point and road leading to GPS Devgim and internal connecting roads in Chorao-Madel, taken up at a cost of Rs 2.94 crore.
Later, a foundation stone for the strengthening and laying hot mix carpet for remaining roads at Muddi, Pandavwada, Malewada, Sodetim in Chodan-Madel to be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2.24 crore was laid. The function was organised at Pandavwada.
