Trisha elected Aldona sarpanch
MAPUSA: Trisha Naik was on Tuesday elected unopposed as Aldona sarpanch, even as the opposition group boycotted the election.
The post had fallen vacant after former sarpanch Ursula D'Souza was voted out of office in a no-confidence motion.
Deputy Sarpanch Deepak Naik, Charudatt Panjikar, Jerry Noronha, Trisha Naik, Harish Mayekar and Sandra Rodrigues were present for the election, while opposition panchas Freddy Pontes, Ursula D'Souza, Tony Tavares, Vallabh Pale and Jyotsna Nagde remained absent.
Krishna Gadekar was the returning officer and was guided by panchayat secretary Cliford Azavedo.
