80% jobs at Mopa airport to Pernem residents: Shripad

Union Minister Shripad Naik reassured locals in Pernem taluka that they would be given preference for jobs at the upcoming International Airport in Mopa.

He was responding to queries from media persons during a visit to Pernem for the Garib Kalyan Sammelan.

"Those who lost their land for the Airport will be given top priority for jobs. Besides, 80% employment opportunities will be given to Pernem youth. Even for the AYUSH hospital, 80% preference will be given to locals," said Naik.

A few days ago, BJP Block President and Chandel Sarpanch Tulshidas Gawas had demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant convene a joint meeting with the contractor, Airport Authority, Mandrem MLA Praveen Arlekar and sarpanchas of villages concerned to provide detailed information regarding the number and nature of jobs given to locals.
