Delay in income certificates causes hardships: SCM

MARGAO

The Shadow Council for Margao has pointed out that there have been inordinate delays in the issue of Income Certificates on account of some reason or the other, thereby subjecting the applicants to grave hardships.

"Considering that this is the time for students to seek admissions to respective schools/colleges, any undue delay could cost the future of students dearly," informed SCM convenor Savio Coutinho.

SCM has further informed that some officials have themselves fixed timings to process such applications, and by these self-imposed timings, they refrain from signing applications/certificates in the evening session.

Furthermore, he said some of the officials have dual postings at other municipalities, as such it adds up to the inconvenience of the general public, and more especially the student community and their parents.

The SCM has requested the Chief Officer of MMC Rohit Kadam to look into this matter and ensure that the applicants are issued the necessary income certificates in the least possible time.

He further pointed out that even if any staff is absent, there should be an official link to process the applications and that the absence of an official should not be a reason to apply brakes to the movement of the applications.
