VASCO
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar demanded the State government look into the heritage and history of Shivaji, as a fort with a cave is lying in a dilapidated condition in Sada-Vasco.
"It is a great matter of pride and a sense of achievement for entire Goa, thanks to Murgao Hindu Samaj (MHS) that we have inaugurated the world's tallest standing statue of Shivaji in Chicalim," said Amonkar.
"I have appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that there is a historic fort at Sada in Mormugao Constituency which is in ruins, dilapidated and craving for attention. The fort which has a huge view of the entire Arabian sea also has a cave and tunnel.”
“I have requested the CM to take up restoration of this fort because a portion of the historic fort has been taken over by Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) and there is no proper access for common people to visit this fort.”
Amonkar said the chief minister assured to take up restoration of the fort, while also opening public access to the fort.
“Once this happens, the fort can turn into a tourism spot, further boosting economy of entire taluka and also creating self-employment opportunities to locals in Mormugao constituency,” said Amonkar.
