CANACONA
The Pulse Polio immunisation campaign achieved a high success rate in Canacona, with 96.81% in the 0-5 age group being administered the dose in the taluka on Sunday in comparison to the 93.5% success rate achieved in the State.
According to sources in the Canacona Community Health Centre, 3,042 of the 3,142 children between in the 0-5 age group were administered orally the Pulse Polio doses in Canacona taluka. These children were part of the 98,245 children receiving the dose across the State from the targeted beneficiaries of 1,05,083 children.
In order to achieve maximum beneficiaries, the Canacona CHC had activated 24 pulse polio Immunisation centres at GPS Khola, Sub-Health Centre Matvem-Khola, Agonda, Bhatpal, Poinguinim, Loliem, Gaondongrim and Khotigao, KTC Bus Stand (Chaudi), CHC Canacona, AW Palolem, Amona, GPS-Patnem, Rajbhag, Sadolxem, Talpona, Maxem, Shrishthal, Ziltawadi and Yeda, Community Hall Gulem,.Polem border check post.
Besides, two mobile centres also moved around in vehicles to carry out immunisation to children.
The CHC utilised the services of health workers besides Anganwadi workers and most of the government vehicles and drivers from the Mamlatdar, BFO, Agriculture, ADEI and other departments in Canacona to carry out the drive.
While social worker Nandeep Bhagat sponsored lunch, while the Lions Club of Canacona provided breakfast to the various teams involved in the Pulse Polio immunisation drive in Canacona.
