CANACONA
Launching a new mission against unemployment, activists from Congress and Goa Forward Party on Tuesday went to a starred hotel along Canacona’s coast and demanded 75% reservation in jobs to youth of Canacona.
GPCC General Secretary and Goa Pradesh Youth Congress leader Janardhan Bhandari informed reporters that he has been continuously demanding and fighting with the State government to ensure 75% reservation in the private sector for local youth, as was being done in Haryana and Andhra Pradesh.
Bhandari along with GFP General Secretary Prashant Naik and others led a delegation and submitted a memorandum to officials of a starred hotel along Canacona’s coast, demanding 75% reservation in hotel jobs for local Canacona youth.
“Give top priority to Bhumiputras of Canacona in jobs by reserving 75% jobs to local youth of Canacona in your resort,” stated the memorandum.
Later speaking to reporters, Bhandari said their campaign was not an election gimmick but a genuine demand out of concern for Goan youth.
“Due to the Covid pandemic, there is a drastic rise in unemployment in the State and only a policy of special reservation to local youth will solve the problem of unemployment to a large extent,” said Bhandari.
