A day after the Electricity Department went about the job of removing overhead cables from electric poles in the commercial capital, workers were on the job to restore the cables on the poles.
Saturday saw workers with ladders on the job in the Aquem area of the city restoring the cables on the electric poles. It could not be ascertained as to whether the stakeholders have obtained any court order to restore the cables back on the electric poles.
However, one could find brisk activity at the electric poles where officials of the electricity department cut down the cables on ground that the cables were tied on the poles without any permission.
Led by Executive Engineer, Kashinath Shetye, power officials had disconnected several cables from the electric poles, saying the cables have affected the stability of the electric poles, posing danger to pedestrians and motorists.
