The last eight days have seen a drop in the number of active Covid cases in Salcete countryside after reaching an all time high earlier this month.
Almost all the Primary Health centres in Salcete, besides the Margao Urban Health centre have witnessed a decline in Covid positive cases.
The Margao Urban Health Centre tops the list with a drop of 917 cases over the last eight days. If the number of Covid positive cases were pegged at 2842 on May 12, with the trend threatening to breach the 3000 figure mark, active Covid cases as on May 20 have been pegged at 1925, a drop in cases by 917.
This is the first time in the last eight days that the Covid cases in the jurisdiction of Margao Urban Health Centre has come down below the 2000 mark.
The situation in the remaining Primary Health Centres around Salcete countryside also looks better. Active cases have come down at almost all the PHCs, including Cansaulim where the cases have dropped below the 1000-mark as on Thursday.
Active cases in the PHCs of Balli, Chinchinim, Loutolim and Navelim has fallen below the 500-figure mark on Thursday, indicating that cases are on the decline though marginally.
