Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said work on the parallel bridge at Bendwada-Sanguem would be taken on priority and would be completed at the earliest.
Speaking to locals in the presence of Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar during his visit to Sanguem to ascertain the damage to property in Sanguem by the recent Cyclonic Tauktae, Sawant said work of the bridge had been halted for some time due to Covid.
Stating that work to restore water and electricity was almost completed in most parts of the Sanguem constituency, the chief minister directed officials concerned to complete restoration work of water and electricity supply to the remaining affected villages at the earliest.
Sanguem ex-MLA Subhash Phaldessai informed Sawant about difficulties faced by people to visit the vaccination centre at Government Higher Secondary School in Sanguem and voiced the need to shift it to the SMC hall at Sanguem or the Government Primary School.
Sanguem BJP Block President Navnath Naik expressed the need to cut many trees lying precariously by the roadside from Bhati to Wadem to avoid mishaps in future.
Former MLA Vassudev Meng Gaonkar also requested the chief minister to tar the road from Uguem to Bhati, which was dug to lay the JICA pipeline and had been left untarred.
After hearing their grievances, Sawant directed officials to look into the issues and get them resolved at the earliest.
Incidentally, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar who was at loggerheads with Sawant for some time, insisted that he has no grudge against the chief minister.
Gaonkar informed that though he is not a part of the BJP government, the government has considered most of the projects proposed by him for the development of Sanguem constituency.
