Stating that cyclone Tauktae caused extensive damage in the State, President of North Goa District BJP Committee Mahanand Asnodkar said blaming the electricity department for the delay in restoring power was unfair as the department officials worked their heart out despite shortage of staff.
“Almost 50 per cent of the staff of the electricity department was on leave for having tested positive for Covid. Despite the shortage of staff, the department engineers and staff worked round the clock to restore power in the State,” Asnodkar said.
“Hats off to the people of Goa who pitched in to cut the trees and clear the roads in several parts of the State. It was a heartwarming sign that during a national calamity all Goans came together and worked for hand in hand,” he said.
