Respite from overcrowding at dist hospital casualty ward

MARGAO:  There’s a steady flow of patients at the South Goa district hospital casualty, but overcrowding has suddenly stopped since Sunday.

The casualty and the OPD, which were streamlined by the district hospital administration by shifting the swab collection centre to the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, has witnessed a slow and steady number of visitors to the hospital casualty.

On Sunday, the day when cyclone Tauktae devastated the State, disrupting normal life, only 56 patients had managed to the visit the casualty. Monday, however saw around 120 people visiting the casualty, with the number increasing to 132 on Tuesday.

The number dropped to 123 on Wednesday before it crossed the 134 figure mark on Thursday, indicating there’s a steady stream of patients visiting the district hospital casualty as against 200-plus patients crowding the casualty earlier this month.
